The following bills that could impact ACEC member firms or
their clients have been introduced.
- HOUSE
BILL NO. 65 – This Bill would increase the size of Sussex County
Council from 5 to 7 members. The Bill is in the House Housing &
Community Affairs Committee. There is a significant cost to the County
government for increasing the Council size along with the overall impact
on communicating with more council members. I do not know where the Sussex
County government stands on this Bill, but I would assume that during this
current recession, they are most likely not interested in having their
costs increased. I would suggest that the Sussex Partnering Committee make
a recommendation on whether we should comment on this Bill.
- House
Bill 70 – This Bill would ban covenants of government entities or
home owner associations from prohibiting the use of wind energy systems
within a community. This Bill is within the House Energy Committee. The
Executive Committee should recommend whether we should make comment of
support for this Bill.
