RE: KENT COUNTY PARTNERING MEETING MINUTES – COMMITTEE MEETING

A Committee meeting was held on June 26, 2007 to determine committee goals for the fiscal year 2007-2008. The following goals/meetings were discussed:

• Town of Smyrna Meeting – August 2007 – The Town of Smyrna is currently revising its zoning ordinance. We would like to meet to receive and update as well as request to be involved in the review of any proposed ordinances.
• Fire Marshal Meeting – September 2007 – A follow up meeting to the meeting held in February 2007.
• Kent Conservation District – October 2007 – Following DNREC Committee meeting with DNREC projected to take place in July 2007.
• City of Dover Meeting – November 2007
• Office of State Planning Meeting with Dave Edgell – December 2007 – Dave Edgell is responsible for Kent County Planning via the Office of State Planning.
• City of Harrington Meeting - January 2008 – The city is currently revising its comprehensive plan as well as re-writing its subdivision ordinance. The town is searching for a new town manager. Once a new town manager is hired, we will set up a meeting.
• Kent County Public Works Meeting – February 2008
• Kent County Planning Meeting – March 2008 – Kent County is experiencing tremendous changes as a result of political influence. Kent County has adopted new APFO Ordinances and is revising its comprehensive Plan. Kent County has also hired a new planning director; Sarah Kiefer. In addition to meeting in March 2008, we will send a follow up letter to Mary Ellen Gray, Assistant Planning Director, to request that ACEC-DE be included in “issue forums” or Committee meetings associated with the re-write of the comprehensive plan. We will also request any draft versions of the comprehensive plan.
• Kent County Public Works- April 2008- partnering meeting with public works staff

In addition to the meetings listed above, the potential of additional meetings/issues were discussed. A brief summary is provided below.

• DelDOT Subdivision/Planning Meeting - A meeting with the DelDOT Kent County Subdivision Engineering Consultant to discuss subdivision design and planning issues. Further discussion with the Executive Committee and the DelDOT committee warranted prior to proceeding.
• City of Milford Meeting – As a result of the City of Milford lying in two counties, a proposal to hold a joint Kent County and Sussex County Partnering meeting with the City of Milford was discussed. Further discussion required at the Executive Meeting.
• DelDOT Central District Meeting – Central District is becoming more involved in the review of plans through the subdivision planning process. Engineers are increasing becoming more involved with Central District as a result. Further discussion with the Executive Committee and the DelDOT committee warranted prior to proceeding.
